PIETRANGELO THINKS RIGHT, SHOOTS RIGHT
John McGourty writes on NHL.com, “There's little doubt that Niagara IceDogs defenseman Alex Pietrangelo will be one of the top selections at the 2008 Entry Draft in Ottawa on June 20-21. Pietrangelo is renowned for his on-ice vision, passing skills and ability to control the pace of games. He had 53 points in 60 games this past season, placing him seventh among Ontario Hockey League defensemen. Plus, his junior coach says the bigger the game, the bigger he plays. But the thing that will make Pietrangelo very attractive, as if being the No. 6-ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting isn't attractive enough, is that he is a right-handed shot.”

ICEDOG EXCITED ABOUT DRAFT DAY
Jim Wallace writes in Osprey News, “The days are getting longer, but Alex Pietrangelo's heart is beating faster by the minute. He's hoping he'll hold out until tomorrow night. By that time, he should know a little more about his future in the NHL. The Niagara IceDogs defenceman is ranked one of the top prospects for the NHL entry draft at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa, where the first round of the draft goes tomorrow. At last look, the 6-foot-4 King City native was ranked sixth by Central Scouting, but that number really doesn't mean too much.”

NHL DRAFT: SCOUTS DRAWN TO PIETRANGELO'S SIZE, TOUGHNESS
Aaron Portzline writes in the Columbus Dispatch, “How deep are the defensemen in this year's NHL draft? Alex Pietrangelo, expected to go somewhere between the fourth and eighth picks in the first round Friday, has many scouts comparing him with a young Chris Pronger. ‘Pronger was tall and skinny when he left junior (hockey),’ one scout said. ‘This kid is tall and full of muscles. But they both have that same mean streak, that nasty-to-play-against attitude that every general manager wants on his side.’ Pietrangelo is 18 years old, 6 feet 3, 206 pounds and growing.”

PIETRANGELO SET FOR D-DAY
Jim Wallace writes in the St. Catherines Standard, “The days are getting longer, but Alex Pietrangelo's heart is beating faster by the minute. He's hoping he'll hold out until Friday night. By that time, he will know a little more about his future in the NHL. The Niagara IceDogs defenceman is ranked one of the top prospects for the NHL entry draft at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa, where the first round of the draft goes Friday. At last look, the 6-foot-4 King City native was ranked sixth by Central Scouting, but that number really doesn't mean too much.”

NIAGARA'S PIETRANGELO LOOKING TO MAKE IT BIG IN NHL
Adam Kimelman writes on NHL.com, "At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, Niagara IceDogs defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has the size of a Chris Pronger. The question scouts have asked is can Pietrangelo match Pronger's ability to use his size in a successfully nasty way. The answer could decide where Pietrangelo is chosen when the 30 NHL teams meet in Ottawa for the 2008 Entry Draft, June 20-21."

DON FULTON'S Q & A WITH ALEX ON INSIDE THE KINGS
|
'DOGS STAR ON A TEAR
Bernie Puchalski writes in the Niagara Falls Review, "Three games into the Ontario Hockey League playoffs, Alex Pietrangelo finds himself at the top of the league's scoring parade. 'That's Petro (Pietrangelo). That's why I call him The Thoroughbred,' IceDogs head coach Mario Cicchillo said. 'When the games are on the line, he comes through for the hockey team.' Pietrangelo's three goals and six points also make him the top-scoring rearguard in the OHL. Equally as impressive as his offensive output is the physical play of the six-foot-four 210-pounder."

PIETRANGELO SHOWS HUGE POTENTIAL
Steve Fitzsimmons writes in the Ontario Hockey Now, "In only his second OHL season, (Pietrangelo) has shown himself to be a leader and has displayed a great work ethic both on and off the ice. With his play, he has been widely lauded for keeping his cool in pressure situations, which is a must for any potential NHL player. A Western Conference NHL Scout, who has watched the OHL extensively, feels that Pietrangelo might not be as NHL ready as some of his counterparts, but may have the most top end skill, when all is said and done. "It takes defencemen a little longer to progress, but when he reaches his prime, he might turn out to be the best player in the draft."

PIETRANGELO LOOKS TO BE TOP DOG COME JUNE
Aaron Bell writes on NHL.com, "For now, Alex Pietrangelo is honored just to have the attention. The standout defenseman from the Ontario Hockey League's Niagara IceDogs is one of the gems in a deep 2008 NHL Entry Draft class and is touted as a franchise-type player for whichever National Hockey League team snaps him up in June. There is a lot to like with Pietrangelo. He is 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, has great mobility, plays a solid game at both ends of the ice and displays a nasty streak that keeps opposing forwards honest."
